Total weight gain: 18.5 lbs since transfer bringing me up to 163.5 lbs

Maternity Clothes: Yes, I’m all about them.  I am living in Old Navy and Gap tees – they are awesome!

Stretch marks: Still – Just the old ones I’ve had from the years of yo-yo dieting on my hips.

Sleep:  Sleep has gotten a little better these past few days. I do toss and turn, but I’m not staying awake in the middle of the night for random hours.

Gestational Diabetes: Still trying to manage my blood glucose levels. My nutritionist continues to adjust my insulin dosage as baby and placenta continue to grow. I’m trying to consume about 135g carbs daily, but the past few days I’ve been eating more.  I’m just starving and don’t exactly feel beef jerky all day long!

Symptoms/Feeling:  No new symptoms. Other than the increase in the wanting of carbs.

Best moment of this week:  Seeing family at my cousin’s MBA graduation dinner. It was the first time I saw family and it was really cute to see their excitement about our pregnancy.  Our baby boy is actually the first baby on my mom’s side of the family that is here in CA.

Miss anything: I am missing the ability to eat whatever I want and whenever I want.  But I can do this.. I’ve got 8-9 more weeks to go!!

Movement:  He’s definitely moving around in there. I’m also realizing I’m going to seriously MISS THIS.

Food cravings:  My huge splurge is Plain Greek Yogurt and Trail Mix (yes, with chocolate and dried fruit – don’t tell my nutritionist)

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really……….

Boy or Girl: Boy!!

Labor signs:  Goodness NO!

Belly button in or out:  FLAT!! I noticed this last night. It’s super weird, but cool at the same time!!  Now I really know my belly is just growing!!

Wedding rings on or off:  Wedding band is off….BUT I got my engagement ring resized!!!  SO I’m rocking my engagement ring and it makes me so happy!!

Happy or moody most of the time: Anxiety is slowly creeping in….. Or is it excitement?

Purchases/preparations for baby:

We painted the nursery and I absolutely love it. I scheduled carpet cleaners to come this Wednesday and after that we will start setting up the nursery. I can’t wait!! Also, it will allow me to really organize all of the baby’s stuff in the closet, our hospital bag, etc.  I’m so excited I just can’t wait!!

Looking forward to:  Setting up the nursery!!

Stripes!! Stripes!!! Stripes!!!!

image

This memorial weekend we completed painting the nursery!!  My original paint color had an eggnog tint – which is NOT what I was going for.  So we repainted the room a more neutral tone and added stripes.  Needless to say, I absoluely loved how it turned out!!  Hubby worked on the powder room all weekend, but was able to connect the light fixture. Next step – schedule a carpet cleaning!!!

Finally…Getting around to the Nursery :)

image

We we finally got around to the Nursery today!!!  We started painting the walls.  For YEARS, the 2nd bedroom had a rich red paint on it. I loved it. Well it was time to say goodbye red room!!   We did our first few coats of cream.  We still need a few more coats and next week I’m going to put stripes on the larger wall. I have been debating what kind of stripes I wanted to do. Well, I decided to do a hint darker stripes with a high gloss paint. It will add texture and depth to the wall.  Super excited, but also a bit scared on how it will turn out.  Hopefully by the end of this memorial weekend, the nursery will just need to get its carpets cleaned and I need to paint on the stripes – hopefully next weekend.  Then we wil be in business!!!  Can’t wait!!

Week TWENTY NINE Update

How far along: 30 weeks – this update is through 29w6d

Meds: Prenatals, DHA, Synthroid, Labatalol, Baby Aspirin, Levemir and Novolog

Baby is the size of: a coconut!!

Belly pictures: This is a photo of me at 16w1d versus 29w1d.  Throughout this pregnancy, I didn’t even think I was really growing or showing.  I was definitely wrong!!

IMG_1512

Total weight gain: 18lbs since transfer!! Per my nutritionist, I shouldn’t gain any more than 25 lbs for this pregnancy — because she considers  me overweight pre-pregnancy!!  GRR

Maternity Clothes: Yes, I’m all about them.  I’ve got some great comfy t-shirts – which I’m starting to live in!!

Stretch marks: Still – Just the old ones I’ve had from the years of yo-yo dieting on my hips.

Sleep:  I continue to wake up in the middle of the night ON MY BACK!! GRR. Also, the last few nights I’ve been up from about 2/3am-5/6am.  Not so good!

Gestational Diabetes: Started insulin (Levemir and Novalog) this week. It’s not bad at all. Its in a pen, similar to Follistim and the needle is super TINY. Maybe 2-3mm.  It’s a piece of cake, but my only challenge is finding fat on my belly for the subcutaneous administration… With this baby, a lot of my skin is stretched!!

Symptoms/Feeling:  Feeling okay. Hoping this GD diagnosis doesn’t interfere too bad with my pregnancy. I’m in major fear of preeclampsia, especially since I have chronic hypertension. I’m slowly feeling more anxiety. I should probably meditate and WALK more.

Best moment of this week:  Seeing that someone bought something on our registry!!!  Especially because I don’t ever expect people to buy stuff for us!!!

Miss anything: Bending to put my shoes on!

Belly button in or out:  Still in!!

Although I did buy 2 more play outfits – I’m trying not to buy anything for the little guy until after our shower and after the baby room is set up.  I believe once it is set up, it will give me a better sense of what we need and what we don’t need.

Looking forward to:  Getting my blood glucose under control… and going to start painting the nursery this weekend!!!

28 Week Update!!

How far along: 28 weeks

Meds: Prenatals, DHA, Synthroid, Labatalol, Baby Aspirin and (SOON TO BE) Insulin

Baby is the size of: a coconut!!

Belly pictures: This is a photo of me at 28w1d

IMG_1479

Total weight gain: LOST 3 lbs!! 164.1lbs last week and 161.1 this week. Putting me at 16.1 lbs so far in this pregnancy..

Maternity Clothes: Yes, I’m all about them.  I’ve got some great comfy t-shirts – which I’m starting to live in!!

Stretch marks: Still – Just the old ones I’ve had from the years of yo-yo dieting on my hips.

Sleep:  Still sleeping well. I’m noticing that I kind of am rolling onto my back. It’s actually a bit comfortable and doesn’t make me numb. I enjoy it for a few seconds and then turn onto my left side.

Gestational Diabetes: Pretty disgruntled about my diagnosis. I went and saw a nutritionist 1:1 yesterday and recommended I start insulin. Primarily due to my elevated fasting glucose numbers. UGH. But I keep reminding myself I’ve got 11 weeks to go and I’ve come too far to risk this baby’s health.  I’ve been eating close to nothing just to keep my sugar levels down, which is probably why my weight dropped this last week.

Symptoms/Feeling:  Still a bit depressed over my gestational diabetes, but I’m over it. I’m feeling a bit stressed about the whole eating thing and hoping the stress subsides by next week’s update.

Best moment of this week:  Constantly feeling this ninja kicking in my belly.

Miss anything: Bending to put my shoes on!

Movement:  He’s definitely moving around in there. I’m also realizing I’m going to seriously MISS THIS.

Food cravings:  I crave nothing at this point. Actually, because of my GD and glucose levels, I have no desire to eat.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really……….

Boy or Girl: Boy!!

Labor signs:  Goodness NO!

Belly button in or out:  Still in!!

Wedding rings on or off:  Wedding band is off….BUT I got my engagement ring resized!!!  SO I’m rocking my engagement ring and it makes me so happy!!

Happy or moody most of the time: Emotional and slightly depressed. Feeling stressed too – not sure why.

Purchases/preparations for baby:

Organized the baby’s closet and belongings. We are space-challenged and the closet is pretty big. Right now the baby only gets 1/2 of the closet. The other 1/2 still belongs to mommy and daddy.

Looking forward to:  I am looking forward to hugging and squeezing the munchkin when he’s here!!

27 weeks and Sayonara 2nd Trimester!!

How far along: 27 weeks

Meds: Prenatals, DHA, Synthroid, Labatalol, Baby Aspirin

Baby is the size of: a bunch of bananas!!

Belly pictures: This is a photo of me at 27w1d

IMG_1433

Total weight gain: 19.1lbs!!  145lbs at retrieval and transfer and up to 164.1lbs at my last doctors appointment!

Maternity Clothes: Yes, and I actually bought new ones!! I really didn’t want to buy any more maternity clothes, but as the weather warms up I realized I needed to order some thinner t-shirts for the summer.

Stretch marks: Still – Just the old ones I’ve had from the years of yo-yo dieting on my hips.

Sleep:  Sleep is a lot better!! Although we did rearrange our bed this past weekend which made it more functional??  Who knows.. But I am sleeping better and I’ll take that where I can get it!

Symptoms/Feeling:  Although my back is getting better, I’m feeling pretty depressed. Primarily due to my newly diagnosed gestational diabetes. I took my gestational diabetes 2hour test earlier this week and my fasting number was 92, it needed to be 91 or less!!! Ugh. SO now I’m watching what I eat, the carbs I take in and prick my finger 4x a day to measure my blood sugar levels. It really sucks and I’m struggling with it, but I’m hoping it gets better.

Best moment of this week:  It’s been awhile since I’ve done an update – but for the most part, the highlight has been clearing out the baby room. It’s ready for us to begin renovating it, but there are a few things that still need to be done.  Such as:

– we are getting an electrician in the house in 2 weeks to put a ceiling outlet. This is so we can get rid of lamps and install a ceiling pendant light.

– I need to still organize the closet.  We have all of our stuff in there right now, and I need to purge and make more room in there!

Miss anything: Jelly donuts and cola Slurpees!

Movement:  I feel movement all the time and I think I’m getting used to it. It’s just a part of my day and I love it!!

Food cravings:  Because I’m not allowed to take in too much carbs and sugar – That’s what I’m craving.  That’s how life is, right?

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really……….

Boy or Girl: Boy!!

Labor signs:  Goodness NO!

Belly button in or out:  Still in!!

Wedding rings on or off:  Wedding band is off….BUT I got my engagement ring resized!!!  SO I’m rocking my engagement ring and it makes me so happy!!

Happy or moody most of the time: Sleepy and Achy!!

Purchases/preparations for baby: We are pretty much done with most of our purchases!! The only thing I really need that is left is our crib mattress.  And since we are fairly space challenged, I have no problem buying that when I go on maternity leave!

Looking forward to:  I am looking forward to hugging and squeezing the munchkin when he’s here!!

VIABILITY Week!!

How far along: 24 weeks

Meds: Prenatals, DHA, Synthroid, Labatalol, Baby Aspirin

Baby is the size of: an EGGPLANT!!

Belly pictures: This is a photo of me at 24w1d.  Sorry for the baggy, non-fitting tee.  I felt the need to just wear comfortable and relaxing clothes… 🙂

IMG_1254

Total weight gain: 17.0 lbs!! Down 0.5lbs from last week, but I feel bigger?!?   145lbs at retrieval and transfer and up to 162.0lbs at my last doctors appointment!

Maternity Clothes: Absolutely!! This body of chubs and baby is not fitting into any normal clothes!

Stretch marks: Still – Just the old ones I’ve had from the years of yo-yo dieting on my hips.

Sleep:  It was a low moment when I didn’t sleep until about 2am. And hubby gets up at 4:30am – naturally I wake up also. So one night I got 2.5 hours of sleep. 😦

On another night — I did also notice that my right arm felt numb when I woke up in the middle of the night, and I was laying on my left side?!? Oh well.

Symptoms/Feeling:  My back hurts like crazy when I sit down too long. Or if I walk too long. Actually, the only time I feel good is when I get home and lay on my left side on the sofa. I did however order lumbar support and a foot rest for work. They seem to be helping out a lot!  Tightening of top of my belly is beginning to be uncomfortable – braxton hicks?!?

Best moment of this week:  Buying our crib! We decided on getting an Ikea crib because I wanted something modern and not bulky – Plus we are assuming this little guy will tear it up!! So despite the fact that there are beds out there that are convertible, we don’t think an expensive convertible bed would last long enough for conversion to a big boy bed. Anywhoo – my mom and I went to Ikea to check out the crib I wanted. And they didn’t have it on the showroom floor. I was so bummed. Especially if I ordered it online, the delivery fee was equal to the cost of the crib!! But as we were entering the self-serve warehouse, I looked up the crib on their computer kiosk and they had it!! So I located it in the warehouse and bought it. So thrilled I was able to check off that huge milestone!!

Miss anything: Bending at the waist….and my back not hurting.

Movement:  I feel like movement during the day has really decreased… but then at night, he’s on fire.   Especially when I start snacking or eating dinner after work. Then the following day, he’s training for a marathon… so I don’t know. I just know feeling him move is still the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced. I feel truly blessed to be able to experience all of this. And the other night hubby even felt a strong kick!!  It was awesome!

Food cravings:  Nothing specific, but I’m trying to stay away from too much salt. But I’m noticing that I’m not being satisfied by any food that I’m eating.  :\

Anything making you queasy or sick: I had a donut for breakfast and I got SUPER light headed. I’m so scared that I will test positive for gestational diabetes in a few weeks.  This was a wake up call…

Purchases/preparations for baby:

Purchases: A lot of small stuff that we need. Such as a baby towel, wearable blanket, etc. The big ticket item this week was the crib.  I’m so excited and can’t wait for us to put it together… after a few home renovations and getting the carpet cleaned!!

Gifts:  2015 Uppa Baby Vista – from brother and an adorable package from Waiting for Baby Bird. 🙂

Preparation: Just more planning and looking at my shopping list and slowly checking things off.

Looking forward to: Our upcoming growth scan!! Any opportunity to see the little guy. I also look forward to EVERY week that comes — I’ve been reading a lot about preterm labor and I’m starting to get paranoid.   When will the worrying stop??

Love From a TTC Sister in this Amazing Community….

Yesterday I received the most adorable and thoughtful package from Waiting for Baby Bird.  The package consisted of the items below:

She must be reading my mind as I have heard little boys squirt like a water fountain at times during diaper changes.  I am feeling pretty confident now that I have the situation handled!

Elisha – I came to this community with the intent to not burden DH with TTC talks and to avoid scrutiny from my closest and most best friends {whom are all very fertile} who just don’t understand what I was going through during this roller coaster of trying to start our family. It humbles me to feel the extension of your love and God’s love through you outside of the internet.   You have educated me with your own personal TTC journey, your faith and love through God. I look forward to the day when you finally introduce Josiah to us all. Until that day, continue to being an inspirational mommy to Goldilocks…. You impact more lives than you know.   xoxo

Anything making you queasy or sick: MEAT!!! OMG – had a filipino meat dish and had an upset stomach, gas and diarrhea for 24 hours. I was freaked out as I read it may lead to dehydration which is BAD for baby!! Had about 1/3 of a container of Pedialyte and I’m back on track!!

22 week update!!

Today, I’m 23 weeks pregnant.  This update is for 22w0d – 22w6d.   Overall I’m feeling great.  I frequently wonder if I’m ever going to start feeling confident about this pregnancy.  I’m not sure about you ladies that are pregnant, but this is how I have felt deep inside:

1st trimester –

  • “Thank you God for my positive beta!!  Please just double in 48 hours!”
  • “Now that my beta has doubled in 48 hours, I hope it’s still rising.”
  • “Please God I hope there is a heartbeat at 6 weeks.  And based on the internet, I hope it’s at least XXX bpm”
  • “Oh God, please have my 1st trimester blood screenings and NT scan be good. I’ll do anything for this miracle baby to be healthy!”
  • “Please God just get me to 12 weeks and I will be so thrilled.  I will be able to dance about this baby.”
  • “Now that I’m at 12 weeks, can I please just get to 14 weeks and the 2nd trimester??”

2nd trimester –

  • “Why are my hip bones and pelvis feeling like they are being pulled in a million directions? Is my body a wishbone?”
  • “Why do I feel NORMAL and most of my symptoms are disappearing? Is there something wrong?”
  • “Is that him??  Is that a kick I feel?  Where is he?  Where are those kicks?”
  • “Please God, I pray that this baby is healthy and all is well during his anatomy scan!!”
  • “Please God, I pray that this baby is healthy and all is well during our fetal echo scan!!”
  • “OMG, am I eating a lot of sugar? I have my gestational diabetes test coming up!!”
  • “OMG, is my blood pressure elevated?  Is my vision blurred?  Do I have headaches? OMG – please God I don’t want to get pre-eclampsia!”
  • “Is that acid reflux? or is that heartburn?  Is TUMS safe?”
  • “Please God just get me to the viability!!”
  • “Please God just get me to the 3rd trimester!!”
  • “Please God just get me to full term at 37 weeks!!”

ARRRGGHH!!!  It doesn’t end.  The worry doesn’t end!!  And then I have to worry about him getting cuts and abrasions while playing sports!!  And then I will worry about him being seduced by skanky girls!!  UGH!!

Anywhoo – let’s reflect on 22 weeks…………….
